Took me 3 years to realize my front fans were fighting the GPU
I built my rig in 2021 and always wondered why my 3080 ran hot no matter what case I used. Last week I was swapping in a new PSU and actually looked at my fan setup from the side. My three front intakes were mounted flush against the solid front panel with almost no gap, so they were basically sucking air through a 10mm slit. On top of that I had the bottom fan pointed up straight into the GPU shroud which just bounced hot air right back into the cooler. The moment I realized it was when I felt the front glass and it was warm to the touch after an hour of gaming. I flipped the bottom fan to exhaust and moved the front fans to the top slots, dropped my GPU temp by 8 degrees Celsius in the same game. Has anyone else caught a dumb airflow mistake that took forever to notice because you never bothered to trace the actual path?

Tbh those 8 degrees might just be from reseating something or the room temp changing, 8 seems like a lot for just flipping fans.
