Spent 6 hours fighting a single fan cable yesterday

So I built a new rig with an NZXT H7 Flow case and everything was going smooth until I tried to route the rear exhaust fan cable. That thing just would not reach the header on my motherboard without looking like a mess. I tried tucking it behind the GPU, under the PSU shroud, even considered zip tying it to the AIO tubes. After 4 hours of messing around I finally gave up and just bought a cheap fan extension cable for $5. That took 2 more hours to get delivered from Amazon. So yeah 6 hours total just to hide one stupid cable. Has anyone else had a case where one cable just ruins your whole build vibe?

That extension cable was the saving grace though. I had a similar issue with my last build using a Fractal North case. The front panel audio connector was about two inches too short to reach the bottom edge of my motherboard. I ended up having to run it diagonally across the top of my power supply, completely visible through the glass side panel. With all the money we spend on nice cases, why do they still skimp on cable lengths? Did you check if your motherboard has a secondary fan header that's closer to that rear fan spot, or was it truly a no-win situation from the start?

Man that Fractal North audio cable issue drove me crazy on my last build too. I had a B650 Aorus Elite that had the front panel header way down near the bottom left corner, and that cable just barely reached with zero slack. It looked terrible stretched across the PSU shroud like a guitar string. You'd think for a $130 case they'd add an extra inch or two to the audio cable, especially when they put so much work into the wood panel aesthetic. At least with extension cables you can route things cleanly behind the motherboard tray if you plan ahead.
