I thought rotating my top fans to exhaust was pointless, then my GPU dropped 11C in one night
Three months ago I built a 7600X and 4070 rig in a Corsair 4000D and ran the stock two front intake, one rear exhaust setup. My GPU was hitting 78C in Cyberpunk and I figured that was just normal for a dual fan card. Last Tuesday a guy at the local shop in Akron told me to flip my top two fans to exhaust instead of intake, which I thought was total nonsense since everyone says more intake equals better flow. I tried it anyway and my GPU peak dropped to 67C with the same fan curve, plus my CPU idle fell about 4C. The lesson for me was that dumping hot air out the top beat pushing more cool air in, at least in this case. Has anyone else had a case where flipping one fan pair made that big a difference, or did I just get lucky with my layout?
