Changed my mind about fan orientation after a test build last night
I always ran all my case fans as intake because I figured more fresh air was better, but my GPU temps were sitting around 82C under load. My buddy told me to flip the top ones to exhaust and recheck with a smoke pencil to see the airflow path. Did you ever try that smoke trick or just guess on your fan setup?

Oh man, I was totally in the same boat! I used to be all about maximum intake, thinking more air coming in was always better. But then I actually tested it with a smoke pencil (borrowed from a friend who builds PCs) and it blew my mind - literally, my top intake fans were just sucking hot air back in from the rear exhaust loop. Flipping the top two to exhaust dropped my GPU from 81C to 74C under load, which is insane for just changing fan orientation. It really is one of those things where you think you know what's happening inside your case until you actually see the smoke trails messing with your assumptions. Now I'm a total convert to testing before settling on a fan layout, it's like night and day once you see the real airflow path.

The smoke pencil trick is actually the only way I figured out my rear fan was basically doing nothing because of a weird negative pressure zone near the GPU backplate. I flipped it to intake and my temps dropped 5 degrees just from that one change, totally counterintuitive. Most people just assume all exhaust or all intake without testing real airflow patterns in their specific case layout.
