Airflow battle: vertical GPU mount vs normal, my temps dropped 9c

Finally finished my build in the Fractal Torrent and had to decide if I wanted the GPU vertical or standard. Everyone online says vertical looks sick but kills airflow. I went vertical anyway because the card is a chonky 4080 and I wanted to show it off. Well, after a week of monitoring with HWInfo, my hotspot dropped from 78c to 69c. Turns out the vertical bracket actually gave more gap between the card and the glass, so the fans could breathe. Anyone else had better luck against the usual advice? Or is my case just weird?

Take the usual advice with a grain of salt. Half the time it's based on one guy's setup from five years ago. Good on you for testing it yourself, that's how most of my PC builds end up working out.
