A fan header on my buddy's board in Phoenix melted at 2am and now I never daisy chain more than 3 fans per header
We were running a 6 fan daisy chain off one header to save a splitter and the plastic connector was soft and brown when I pulled it, so now I cap it at 3 per header and check the amp rating in the manual first, anyone else got a header count they won't cross?
Six fans off a single header is wild. The plastic going soft and brown is the part that gets me, like that thing was cooking for a while before it finally gave up. Phoenix at 2am is still probably 90 degrees in that room, so that header had zero help from the air. Meanwhile your buddy is just asleep while his board is slowly turning into a candle. Three per header is a solid rule, but amp rating in the manual is the real move here.
