Why does nobody talk about default router passwords still being a top way in?
I was reading a Verizon data breach report from last year and it said over 80 percent of hacking related breaches involve weak or stolen passwords. That number shocked me because everyone I know in IT keeps pushing fancy firewalls and threat detection software. But the report also said a huge chunk of those weak passwords are just the defaults that come on routers and smart devices. I checked my parents' router in their house in Tulsa last week and sure enough it was still admin/admin. I changed it in two minutes. People love to argue about VPNs and antivirus but nobody wants to hear that the simplest fix is still the one that matters most. Has anyone else actually looked at what devices on their network still have factory logins?
