The week I stopped telling everyone to use a password manager

Last month, my cousin in Phoenix had his whole digital life locked out for 4 days because his password manager got hit with a weird bug after an update. He lost access to his bank, work email, everything. Watching him panic on the phone while we tried to call support changed my mind. I used to think they were the only safe way, but now I see they put all your keys in one basket. If that basket breaks or gets hacked, you're stuck. I still use one for most stuff, but I keep my main email and bank logins written down in a real notebook at home. It feels wrong to say this here, but having a backup plan outside the app saved me when my own manager had a sync issue. Has anyone else had a close call that made them change their setup?

Yeah, that "all your keys in one basket" thing is what got me too... I was a total believer until my own manager glitched and I couldn't get into my main email for a day.

Honestly, keeping a paper backup for the really important logins is just smart. I mean, the tech can fail and then you're totally stuck. Maybe it's just me but I sleep better knowing I have a physical backup at home.
