The two factor authentication text code trap I keep seeing

I help my neighbor with his small business computer stuff and he was texting me last week about a login issue. Turns out he had no idea that SMS codes for two factor authentication can be intercepted through SIM swapping. He's been using text message codes for his bank account and email for 3 years without knowing the risk. I switched him over to an authenticator app in about 15 minutes. Has anyone else dealt with convincing people to move away from text codes?

SIM swap scams are no joke, ditch those text codes.

Wait, I used to think text codes were the safest option. I mean, this totally changed my mind about that.
