So I tried to make a 'super secure' password by mashing my keyboard for 5 minutes. My password manager just gave up and crashed.

That "mashing my keyboard for 5 minutes" is the real problem. Password managers are built for long but sensible passwords, not total chaos. You basically created a file so huge and random the software couldn't process it. It's like trying to drink from a fire hose. A strong passphrase made of a few random words would be just as secure and wouldn't break anything.

Totally reminds me of people who overcomplicate simple tasks. Like using a power drill to hang a picture when a nail and hammer would do. Why make things harder than they need to be?
