My uncle the 'security expert' told me to use his old router password
My uncle Bill who 'knows computers' insisted I use 'Password123!' for my new router. Said nobody would ever guess it because the exclamation mark made it secure. Three days later I woke up to a bill showing 200GB of overnight data usage. Turns out his old trick got brute forced in about 2 minutes. Has anyone else had a well-meaning relative give them awful security advice?

Did you read that study about passwords with special characters at the end? Apparently hackers know all those tricks too. Your uncle probably means well but his advice is about 15 years out of date.
