Heard a guy at the coffee shop say he clicks every link in spam emails for fun

I was grabbing a latte downtown near 5th Street yesterday and this dude straight up told his friend he opens random links from Nigerian prince emails just to see what happens. Like is that a game to you or do you actually want your identity stolen? Took everything in me not to pull up a chair and explain basic phishing 101 to a grown man who should know better. Has anyone else overheard some truly reckless cybersecurity habits in the wild?

Honestly I used to be kinda careless with my spam folder too, just clicked random stuff out of boredom thinking nothing bad would happen. Then I actually got hit with one of those fake package delivery texts that installed some sketchy app on my phone, and it took me two days to scrub it all off. You're right, hearing a guy brag about that at a coffee shop would've made me want to warn him too, how do you not get nervous messing with that stuff?

Did the guy ever say what kind of stuff he clicked on or downloaded? Curious if it was just dumb luck or if he actually had some system for staying safe.
