Heard a coworker say 2FA is a scam, made me think

Overheard Mark saying SMS 2FA is a honeypot. He read some report about SIM swapping being the real risk. I kinda get it but my Gmail got hit without it. Do you guys use authenticator apps or skip 2FA altogether?
