Got hit with a ransomware demand after clicking a fake invoice

Last Tuesday I got an email that looked just like a real invoice from a vendor I use. I clicked the attachment before I even thought about it. Next thing I know my files are locked and there's a screen demanding $500 in Bitcoin. I had to wipe my whole work laptop and restore from a backup from two days prior. Has anyone else dealt with those fake invoice scams that look way too convincing?

My sister once opened a fake FedEx delivery notice and ended up with a screensaver of a dancing banana for a week.

Nah, I gotta push back on that. If all she got was a dancing banana screensaver, she actually got off easy compared to some of the horror stories out there.
