Finally set up a hardware key after putting it off for months

I had to pick between a Yubikey and a cheaper one from Amazon, went with the Yubikey and it took maybe 15 minutes. Has anyone else found a good way to store the backup codes?

Why bother with backup codes at all? I just keep my hardware key on me and use a password manager for everything else. It feels like extra steps that could get lost.

Totally get where you're coming from! Backup codes feel like a hassle for sure. But that one time my key got left in a hotel safe was a nightmare. Having those codes saved my bacon so I could get back into my accounts. It's just for those "oh no" moments when the key isn't there. Storing them in the same password manager feels safe enough.
