Finally convinced my mom to stop using 'Password123' for everything

My mom got an email saying her Netflix account was accessed from a city three states over. She didn't think it was a big deal because 'it's just Netflix.' I showed her how many sites use the same email and password combo she uses for her bank account. After 15 minutes of explaining and resetting passwords, she finally let me set up a password manager. Has anyone else had to basically beg family members to take this stuff seriously?

Did you try having her watch that Netflix documentary on password security?

Absolutely. I showed my mom that documentary last year and it finally clicked for her. She had been using the same password for everything since 1998. After watching it she let me set up a password manager on her phone and computer. Took a while to get her to stop writing them on sticky notes though. That was a whole other battle.
