A stranger at Starbucks corrected my password manager setup

Guy next to me saw me type a password into a notes app and spent 10 minutes showing me how my cloud backup was basically a free pass for anyone who got my master key, so now I'm wondering if I should switch to a local-only vault?

Start with Bitwarden or KeePass, local only if you're worried. The cloud thing is a real risk if someone gets that master password, but a local vault is only as safe as the device you keep it on. I'd use a local vault on a phone that never leaves your pocket and skip the notes app entirely.
