My $40 fan controller finally saved my vintage Gateway build
I stuffed an RTX 4070 into that beige Gateway tower from 2001 and the airflow was awful, temps hit 82c under load after about 20 minutes. Picked up a cheap 6-channel fan controller with thermal probes off Amazon for like $40 and wired two 120mm fans to pull air through the old front grille. Has anyone else had to mod their sleeper airflow without drilling visible holes, or did you just accept the heat?

A $40 fan controller saving a beige box from 2001 is the most 2024 thing I've read all week. Honestly the real hero here is that Gateway case for surviving an RTX 4070 at all. Mine would've just melted into a puddle of plastic and nostalgia.
