Lost 3 days on a Pentium 3 case with a GPU clearance trap

Picked up a vintage Gateway tower off Facebook Marketplace for $40 thinking it'd be a sweet sleeper. Spent 3 days cutting and grinding the drive cage only to find the 3080 I had wouldn't fit because the case's internal frame has this stupid angled brace right where the power connector sits. Ended up hacking off more metal than I planned and the whole side panel bulges like a popped can. That $40 turned into $85 with new rivets and a dremel bit pack, and the build still isn't stable. No way I'm using it for anything past a media server now. Anyone else get burned by a case that looked roomy in photos but hid a weird internal lip?
