Wait, you're seriously thinking about bottling up a top-flow exhaust with wood paneling on top? That's gonna choke your airflow something fierce unless you've got some serious clearance going on there. I mean, I've seen some wild sleeper builds but blocking the path of least resistance for hot air sounds like a recipe for thermal throttling (especially if you're running anything modern and power hungry). Are you planning to cut vents into that wood, or are you just hoping the side panels will do all the heavy lifting for your exhaust?

Whoa, @the_mason, you actually got me second-guessing my whole plan here. I was so set on the retro look that I didn't really think about the hot air getting trapped (which is dumb, I know). Now I'm wondering if I can cut some thin slits in the wood paneling near the top to let the heat escape, or if I should just scrap the wood idea and find a different way to hide the fan. You make a really good point about modern CPUs being power hungry, because mine runs hot even with good airflow.
