Rant: booking a cruise excursion in Cozumel on my own took 3 weeks and endless phone calls
Everyone says skip the cruise line excursions and just book your own thing, but nobody tells you how messy that really is. I spent 3 weeks trying to lock down a simple snorkel trip in Cozumel for my family of 4, and it was a nightmare. The tour operator only took payment through a bank transfer that my bank flagged twice, so that ate up 6 days right there. Then the port schedule shifted by an hour, and the guy running it stopped answering emails for 4 days. I called the hotel he listed, and they had no idea who he was. By the time I finally got a confirmation text, I had already put in over 20 calls and messages. The cruise line price was $30 more per person, but honestly that would have saved me a ton of stress. Has anyone found a tour operator in Cozumel who actually picks up the phone the first time?
