Pro tip: booked my cruise 14 months out and saved $600 on the same cabin

I always booked cruises 3 or 4 months ahead and just paid whatever the site showed me. Last spring I tried something different for a 7 day trip out of Miami. I put a deposit down 14 months early on a balcony cabin and watched the price. When it dipped during a random sale in January, I called and they re-priced it, knocking $600 off. Same room, same ship, just booked way earlier and kept an eye on it. Does anyone else re-price after booking, or do you just lock it in and stop looking?
