My coworker in Tampa said she skips the drink package and I ran the math on our 7 night sailing
She said flat out 'I never break even, I just pay per drink' and I laughed at her. Then I added up what my husband and I actually drank on our last 7 night cruise out of Tampa and it was 4 drinks a day between us, not the 8 I always assumed. The package would have cost us about $840 and we spent maybe $380 plus tips. Now I'm wondering if I've been overpaying for three cruises in a row. Does anyone here actually track their daily drinks or do you all just buy the package out of habit?
What drinks were you actually counting though? Like if you had two coffees from the specialty place in the morning plus a couple of poolside cocktails, that adds up faster than people realize. And did you factor in port days where you're off the ship most of the day barely drinking anything? Also curious if your husband was drinking beer while you were doing wine, because that changes the math a lot. Basically I want to know if that 4 a day was an average across the whole week or just a typical sea day.
