Anyone recommend a shore excursion that focuses on indigenous culture and small groups?
Cruise coming up and I want something that feels authentic. Not looking for a big bus tour or a commercialized performance. Is there a land based option where guides are local, you learn about traditional practices, and groups are small enough to ask questions?

Seconding this. I avoided the big ship excursions for this trip and it made a difference. The small van format felt personal, the guide pointed out berries and explained their uses, and the drive took us onto roads most tours never see. Even without every wildlife sighting the cultural side made it memorable.

Yes. I did a 3 hour land based tour last summer that was exactly that. The guides were lifelong locals and they talked about Tlingit history, medicinal plants, and what village life is really like. The group was maybe eight people so there was time to stop, take photos, and ask questions.
