Taught creative writing for 3 years before a student pointed out my fatal flaw
I had my middle schoolers do a free write exercise last Tuesday, and one kid asked why every single one of my example paragraphs started with "The sun was setting." That's when I realized I'd been using the same opening line for every writing prompt for years without even noticing. Has anyone else had a blind spot like that just smack them in the face out of nowhere?
