Paid $85 for a writing prompt deck at a used book store in Portland, best money I ever dropped
I was killing time in a beat up shop on Hawthorne last month and found this deck of 300 prompt cards for $85, which felt steep for a box of paper but I grabbed it anyway. Turns out having a physical card in my hand stops me from scrolling and lets me just start typing, and I've cranked out 14 short pieces since then. Anyone else use cards or dice or anything off screen to get words going, or am I just fooling myself?
There's something about physical objects that just switches your brain into gear, same reason I still write grocery lists on paper instead of my phone. Flipping a card or rolling a die gives your hands a job so your head can wander, and that's half the battle right there.
