My worst writing week started with a coffee spill on my notebook

Last Tuesday, I knocked a full cup over my open journal. Lost three pages of dialogue for a story set in Phoenix. Tried to rewrite it from memory on my laptop. Could not get the character's voice right at all. Has anyone salvaged notes after a mess like that?

I lost a whole sketchbook to a leaky water bottle once. I found taking a walk and trying to rewrite the general scene from scratch worked better than chasing the exact lost words. The new version was different, but sometimes that's okay.
