I keep seeing writing prompts about 'a world without color' that miss the point entirely

Most of those prompts get stuck on the literal idea of color blindness. The real point is about losing meaning. A world without color would change how we feel about everything, not just how things look. It would mess with memory, emotion, and basic communication in ways we can't fully picture. The good prompts explore that deeper loss of feeling, not just a visual trick.

Totally get that, it's like losing a whole layer of feeling.

Butler.tessa said 'a world without color would change how we feel about everything' and that really got me thinking. Is it possible we'd find new ways to feel things that we can't even imagine right now? Like would we start putting meaning into texture or sound or smell in a way that makes color seem shallow by comparison? I wonder if the deeper loss is actually the fear of losing something we don't fully understand, not the color itself. What do you think happens to the way we bond with each other if we can't see or describe things by their colors anymore?
