I finally had a day where every scene I wrote just clicked
I was working on a creepy forest scene for my horror short story last Wednesday, and the dialog and description flowed out in like 90 minutes without any backtracking. Usually I battle with passive voice and clunky pacing, but that day the words felt natural and the tension built exactly how I wanted. Has anyone else had a writing day that just worked perfectly, and what do you think made it click for you?

Bet that feeling is addictive, it really is. What was the main thing you did differently that day that you think got the words to flow like that? Like did you outline more beforehand, or maybe you were in a different headspace or listening to some specific music that set the mood. I always wonder if it's pure luck or if there's some little habit we can actually recreate.

3pm that Tuesday, I made myself sit down with a black coffee and no phone in the room. Usually I have my phone on the desk and check it every five minutes, but that day I actually turned it off and put it in the drawer. I also wrote the first paragraph by hand in a notebook before typing anything, which I never do normally. The music thing is tricky though, I tried lo-fi beats once and it just made me want to nap. So for me it was probably the combination of zero distractions and physically writing the start, but your mileage may vary a lot on that.
