A beta reader told me my dialogue all sounds the same and I've been rewriting for 3 days straight
She said 'every character talks like a 30 year old sarcastic guy' and now I can't unhear it. Has anyone else had to totally rework how they write conversations?

Three years ago I had my brother read a scene I wrote and he asked me why my teenage character was complaining like a middle aged dad who just found out his 401k tanked. I started reading my dialogue out loud in different voices and realized I was basically writing myself every time. What helped me was literally putting down different accents or speech patterns for each character like one talks faster and trips over words when they're nervous, another pauses a lot and uses filler words. If your beta reader pointed it out they probably saved you a lot of future headaches, so take the note and run with it.
