Why does nobody talk about how much smoother tower crane ops got after they switched to digital load indicators

Back in 2018 I was still wrestling with those old analog gauges that bounced all over the place, but after my company upgraded to digital ones on all six jobsites in Charlotte, the swing and pick coordination feels completely different and I'm curious if anyone else noticed a drop in near-misses too.

Digital load indicators cut down the guesswork, but is the real improvement coming from the sensors or the software that processes the data? I heard some riggers complain the new systems are too sensitive and false alarms actually spike near-miss reports. How many times did that analog gauge save you from a bad lift by forcing you to slow down and read it twice?

Honestly, that analog gauge saved me a couple times just by making me actually think before lifting.
