Wasted $150 on a fancy load cell system that never worked right

Bought one of those digital load cell setups from a guy at a trade show in Omaha. Looked great on paper, but the Bluetooth kept dropping out mid-lift. Had to go back to my old mechanical scale after two jobs. Anyone else get burned by fancy tech that just couldn't handle site conditions?

That story about the Bluetooth dropping out in Omaha really gets me. I can't believe a load cell system priced at $150 couldn't handle a simple site condition like that. You'd think by now they'd have tested it in real work environments, not just a clean trade show floor. Losing connection mid-lift is a safety hazard, not just an inconvenience. Good thing you had the old mechanical scale to fall back on.

That part about it being tested on a trade show floor, not a real site, really stands out to me. Did you get a chance to look at the warranty terms before you bought it, or was it one of those "all sales final" kind of deals?
