Unpopular opinion: I quit using the load chart in the cab and my picks got safer
I used to keep my nose in the load chart every single lift, even a 2,000 lb panel at 40 feet on a 60 ton. About 6 months ago my old trainer Dale in Bakersfield called me lazy for it and told me to memorize the numbers cold before I ever hit the seat. Now I walk the job first, do the math in my head, and only check the chart if something feels off, and I have not had a single close call since. Anyone else think depending on the chart mid-lift makes you slower and dumber, or is that just me?
