Took me 6 years to learn my tag line was too tight
Back in 2018 I was running a Liebherr LTM 1090 up near Spokane and kept having the load spin on me during a pick. I figured it was the wind or the rigging crew messing up. Turns out I had been cranking my tag line down like a winch instead of keeping it snug with a little give. A older operator watched me fight a beam for 10 minutes, walked over, and just said "you're choking it, loosen up." Changed my whole approach on lifts with long loads. Anyone else get told they were overcorrecting something basic for years?

Choking it" sounds like a dating tip, but yeah, been there with a boom truck.
