Shoutout to the guy who showed me the "reverse chain" trick for tight spots

I was fighting with a chain binder on a cramped boom repair last month near Austin, sweating buckets and getting nowhere. A retired crane hand walked by and told me to flip the chain around and hook it backward through the loop. Took me 30 seconds after that and the load stayed solid. Has anyone else got a weird little trick like that for binding or rigging?

Found the same trick does help a lot, but I learned to check for twists first. Tightened one down and the chain actually rolled over on itself, had to stop and work it back flat. A little extra time checking before you pull saves a headache later.

Respectfully, that trick can fail if the chain twists under load.
