I used to think a quick visual check was enough before a lift
I was on a site in Phoenix and heard an operator tell his spotter, 'If you can't see the whole path, we're not moving an inch.' That simple line made me stop and actually walk the entire route for a 15-ton beam lift yesterday. How many of you actually do a full walk-around for every single pick?

Ever seen a rigger's knot come undone after a few lifts? Things change on site. A full walk is the only way to spot a new pothole, a stray cable, or a crew working where they weren't an hour ago. That five minutes is cheap insurance against a lifetime of what-ifs.
