Hit 10,000 hours on the same LTM 1090 last Tuesday, still feels like a new machine to me
I was just doing the daily greasing and the hour meter rolled over to 10,000, which got me thinking about all the jobs that old girl has seen since 2008, and I'm curious if anyone else gets weirdly attached to one specific crane after that many hours or is it just me?

Honestly, that's a lot of hours to get sentimental over, but I see it the other way. Past 5,000 hours or so, that machine is not "new" to me, it's a liability I'm watching. Idk, maybe it's just the way I was trained, but I always feel like the more time something runs, the closer it gets to a big failure that you can't predict. The hours add up, and so does the wear on every little part, no matter how good the maintenance is. I mean, if it's been reliable, that's great, but I'd be looking at replacement costs and downtime way more than the memories. So no, I don't get attached, I get nervous.
