Heat stroke scare on a 42 meter Liebherr last July taught me a cold water trick

I was running a 42 meter Liebherr in Phoenix last July and started getting dizzy around 2 PM. My spotter saw me swaying and yelled for me to come down. I tried drinking cold water but what actually worked was soaking my hard hat liner in ice water and putting it back on. Has anyone else found a quick fix for staying cool in the cab during those brutal summer jobs?

Heard about this trick from an old timer on a jobsite a couple years back. He'd freeze a couple water bottles and stick them in a sock, then drape that around his neck. Something about the cold hitting the main arteries there helps cool your whole body way faster than just drinking the water. I tried it on a 100 degree day last August and it actually kept me from feeling like I was gonna puke. The hard hat liner thing makes sense too since a ton of heat escapes through your head.

Huh, I used to think that neck cooling stuff was just placebo nonsense. But after hearing you and others swear by it, I'm honestly rethinking that.
