Had to pick between a quick lift and a safer, slower setup yesterday
We were setting a 3-ton HVAC unit on a roof in Phoenix, and the foreman wanted me to boom it over a live power line to save an hour. I said no, we moved the truck and used the jib instead, which took most of the morning. When do you guys draw the line on a 'time-saver' that feels risky?

Damn, good call. What did your foreman say when you shut down his idea? That's the real test of a site's safety culture.

That "real test" idea is a bit too simple for me. A good foreman should listen to safety concerns without it being a power struggle. The real culture is when everyone feels okay to speak up, not just when someone wins an argument.
