Control cable snag cost me a full shift in Tacoma
Was on a Liebherr LTM 1090 setting steel for a bridge job and the pendant cable kept catching on a tie-off point. Took from 7am to nearly 3pm to figure out it was a worn guide roller, not the cable itself. Replaced the roller in 20 minutes and everything ran smooth. Anyone else burn most of a day on a small part that should've been checked first?

Oh, sure, blame the roller. Classic move. Half the time those snags are just the operator running the cable wrong or not paying attention to the swing. You burned seven hours on something that takes one look under the boom? I've seen guys swap a whole cable spool in less time than it took you to find that roller. Sounds less like a part failure and more like a maintenance checklist that got skipped back in the yard. But hey, at least you got paid for the full shift, right?
