Changed my mind on lattice boom assembly after talking to an old-timer

I ran into a retired crane guy named Hank at the supply yard last Tuesday, and he told me I was wasting time by torquing every single pin in sequence. He showed me his method of staggering the pins and using a come-along to pull the sections tight before final torque. Has anyone else tried this approach or is it just a old school thing?

Hank knows his stuff. Come-alongs are cheap insurance for getting everything seated right before you torque.

Just depends on what you're working on, I guess. I've never run into a situation where things were that far off that a come-along was necessary. Seems like a lot of hassle for something that might not be needed most of the time.
