Why does every new stylist think they can skip the shampoo training?
Ngl, it bugs me when newer cosmetologists act like washing hair is beneath them. Last month at my salon in Portland, a fresh grad spent 20 minutes scrubbing a client's scalp like they were trying to exfoliate a potato. Has anyone else had to reteach basic finger positioning to someone who skipped that part of school?

Gently correct that shampoo training is actually part of the standard curriculum now, not something people skip.

My cousin went through that training last spring and came back talking about pH balance like it was a new religion for like two weeks straight. I mean, I guess it makes sense if you're trying to keep hair from turning into straw, but man, the way she described it sounded way more intense than I ever expected. It just feels like one of those things that sneaks up on you once it's already standard.
