Took me 6 months to figure out why my foils kept slipping

I have been doing highlights for over a decade, but last fall every single foil job started sliding off the section before I could seal it. I tried different foils, changing my sectioning pattern, even watching YouTube videos at midnight. Turns out the issue was my conditioning treatment. I was using a new deep conditioner with a lot of slip, and it left a residue on the hair that made the foil grip useless. Switched back to my old formula and the problem vanished in one appointment. Has anyone else had a product swap mess with their technique like that? I felt pretty silly for not testing it sooner.

Used to blame everything on my technique or the tools. This post made me realize the products leave invisible film that changes how everything sits. Makes total sense now, gonna watch what I use before the foil goes in.

Checked your gloves or the comb you're using to backcomb with... I had a similar ghost issue once and it turned out the static from a new pair of gloves was wrecking my foil hold.
