The 40 minute blowout rule I learned from watching my grandma

Last week I was at my grandma's house in Dayton and she timed me doing a blowout on her. She pointed out that I was spending 40 minutes when her old salon used to do it in 20. So I watched her technique and realized she was using way less tension and smaller sections. Has anyone else cut their blowout time down by changing how they hold the brush?
