That thing where people over-pluck eyebrows and call it 'cleaning them up'

I keep seeing clients come in with those super thin, disconnected brows that look like they were drawn on with a fine point marker. It's like everyone forgot that eyebrows are supposed to have a natural shape and some thickness to them. I get it, we all want a polished look, but when you take away too much from the inner corners, it throws off your whole face balance. I had a girl in my chair yesterday who confessed she uses a magnifying mirror and tweezers every single night because she thinks any stray hair looks messy. The problem is, she's been doing this for two years now and some of those hairs just stopped growing back. Now she's stuck filling in gaps with pencil every morning. Has anyone else seen this trend go too far and had to gently talk a client out of the tweezer habit?

That girl with the magnifying mirror sounds like she's running a midnight operation against her own face. I've got a buddy who does exactly that and now her brows look like two surprised apostrophes floating above her eyes. She swears by it too, says "at least they're clean" while drawing on half her forehead every morning. It's like watching someone burn down their house and then bragging about how neat the ashes look. Sometimes I wonder if we need a 12-step program for people who can't put the tweezers down before 10 PM.

Did you ever try setting a timer for yourself? That's what finally fixed it for me I swear... I'd get so sucked into plucking at night and then wake up looking like a surprised Muppet. I just started giving myself 5 minutes max with the tweezers and that's it, lights out, no more mirror time. Now my brows look a lot more natural and I don't have to panic-draw them on in the car every morning. It's not perfect but at least I don't look like I'm permanently raising one eyebrow at the world anymore...
