Rant: I judged a client's box color kit for 2 months before I actually read the label

Last month a woman sat in my chair at the salon in Boise with a box dye she'd used 3 times, and I bit my tongue about it until she flipped the box over and showed me the developer volume printed right there on the back, which made me realize I'd been lecturing clients about box color without ever actually looking at one closely, so now I'm curious how many of you actually read those labels before giving advice.
