PSA: the client who showed me photos of 'box braids' from a Pinterest board and flipped when I quoted her $220
She sat in my chair in Portland last month and pulled up a pic of waist length box braids she said her last stylist did for $140, and I told her straight up that no licensed braider in this city is touching that for under $200 with the hair separate. She cussed me out and walked, then came back nine days later after some girl on Instagram quoted her $90 and left her edges looking scalped. I still charged her the full $220 plus a $40 detangle fee because I had to spend an hour picking out the mess, and she paid it without a word this time. Pricing is not the enemy here, cheap work that costs you your hairline is. What do you all say when a client waves a screenshot at you like it's a binding contract?
