My mentor insisted I charge at least $75 for a corrective color, and that first client who agreed changed my whole pricing structure.

I was scared to quote that high in my home salon, but she booked the appointment anyway and tipped me $20, so has anyone else had a mentor give advice that felt risky but paid off?

My buddy's mentor told him to double his rate for a simple cut, and he was sure he'd lose clients. He booked his busiest month ever right after.

Man, I used to be so sure that raising prices would just push people away. I figured folks would shop around for the cheapest option. But seeing stuff like this, where someone doubles their rate and gets more work, really flips that idea on its head. It must make clients see the service as more valuable, like they're getting something special instead of just a basic cut. Makes me wonder how many of us are just leaving money on the table.
