I was using way too much tension on my foil placements
A client came in for a root touch up and her hair was breaking right at the line of demarcation from my last visit. My mentor watched me work and said, 'You're pulling it like a rubber band, ease up.' I've been doing this for five years and never realized. Anyone else have a tension wake-up call?

My mentor said the same thing last year.

Yeah, it's wild how that works. I see it all the time with people and their phones, myself included. You pick it up and just start scrolling through the same three apps without even deciding to. It's like our habits build these little mental tracks, and we just roll along them until something, or someone, bumps us off. Your mentor pointing it out probably made you actually see the routine for a second.

Ever notice how the thing you do the most is the thing you never think to check? It's like driving the same route for years and then one day you realize you've been riding the brakes the whole time. Miles_grant35 hearing the same thing fits that pattern. We get so used to our own hands doing the work that the basics can slip without us knowing. It's a good reminder to sometimes just stop and watch what your own fingers are actually doing.
