What did she do, wash it in the gulf? That Florida heat is no joke.

Actually, I've had the opposite experience. I left a black cotton shirt on my line in full Texas sun for a whole afternoon. It didn't fade at all, it just got really dry and hot. The heat alone might not ruin it. Maybe it was the water or something else in the wash.

Had me reconsidering too. I always figured direct sun was the main culprit for fading, but your Texas experiment makes me wonder if it's more about the water quality or detergent reacting with the heat.
